WHMIS/GHS Certification: New Standards

On December 14, 2025, Health Canada enacted new regulations, revising the previous WHMIS/GHS 2015 Hazardous Products Regulations to coincide with the 7th and some parts of the 8th revised editions of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The refreshed program is now recognized within Canadian borders as WHMIS/GHS 2025.

COURSE OVERVIEW


As of December 14, 2025, Health Canada initiated new regulations that revise the former WHMIS/GHS 2015 Hazardous Products Regulations. This WHMIS/GHS 2025 training program in Canada is designed to facilitate your compliance with the updated WHMIS/GHS standards and enhance your understanding of controlled products and their safe handling procedures in the workplace. Upon successful completion of the WHMIS/GHS 2025 course, you will be able to:

• Grasp the significance of WHMIS/GHS 2025 and its role in promoting workplace safety.
• Familiarize yourself with the updated WHMIS/GHS 2025 legal requirements under the Hazardous Products Act and Hazardous Products Regulations, including the roles and responsibilities of employers, employees, and suppliers.
• Recognize and comprehend the varied hazard classes and their related risks.
• Understand the WHMIS/GHS 2025 symbols and pictograms utilized for hazardous material classification.
• Recognize potential health impacts resulting from exposure to controlled products.
• Gain knowledge on safe handling procedures of hazardous materials, incorporating the use of suitable personal protective equipment or PPE.
• Understand the information provided on both supplier and workplace labels.
• Comprehend the details on the Safety Data Sheets or SDS.

This program will be divided into 5 Chapters:

•    Chapter 1: WHMIS/GHS 2025 Basics
•    Chapter 2: Physical and Health Hazard Classifications
•    Chapter: 3 Routes of Entry and Personal Protection Equipment
•    Chapter 4: Product Labeling Requirements
•    Chapter 5: Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
