COURSE OVERVIEW

The Indigenous Cultural Awareness online course offers an enlightening exploration into the Indigenous cultures within Canada. As these cultures predate the creation of Canada, it is impossible to cover every aspect in one course, but the Indigenous Cultural Awareness course will ignite your curiosity to delve deeper into the myriad of cultures present within the country. This digital course delves into significant topics including distinctive features of these vibrant cultures, life in Canada before colonization, and the repercussions of colonization viewed through the lens of Indigenous peoples.

In essence, this online course is broken down into seven enlightening chapters. These modules consist of: 

  • Chapter 1: Names and Peoples  
  • Chapter 2: Prior to Colonization
  • Chapter 3: Intersection of Two Worlds  
  • Chapter 4: Aftermath of Colonization
  • Chapter 5: Application of Traditional Wisdom to Contemporary Subjects 
  • Chapter 6: Dispelling Myths and Stereotypes about Indigenous Cultures
  • Chapter 7: Forging Ahead Together 

Upon completion of the modules, you will be administered a final test to assess your understanding.

PASS MARK

To receive a certificate of completion for the Indigenous Cultural Awareness online course, a score of 80% must be achieved. Participants can retake the course twice if they don’t meet the passing score on the first attempt.
