COURSE OVERVIEW


The Cargo Securement (OSHA) safety training course is designed to be OSHA compliant, and the online version meets OSHA’s classroom training requirement.
Course Content: The course comprises sections on governing bodies, requirements, the process of cargo securement, specific types of cargo, and more.
This course offers periodic practice quiz questions to prepare participants for the final written exam included with the course. In addition, a checklist is provided for employers to use when conducting a practical exam as mandated by OSHA.
Estimated Duration: The time taken to complete this training varies as it depends on individual learning speed. Nevertheless, the estimated time for this training ranges between 1.5-2 hours.

While you will still have to acquaint yourself with all other relevant federal, state, and local standards, this training includes the following standards for cargo securement:

49 CFR §393 Subpart I: Protection Against Shifting and Falling Cargo

§393.100 – Identifying the commercial motor vehicles subject to the cargo securement standards of this subpart, and understanding the general requirements.
§393.102 – Understanding the minimum performance criteria for cargo securement devices and systems.
§393.104 – Familiarizing oneself with the standards that cargo securement devices and systems must meet to satisfy the requirements of this subpart.
§393.106 – Knowing the general requirements for securing articles of cargo.
§393.108 – Learning how to determine the working load limit of a tiedown, or the load restraining value of a friction mat.
§393.110 – Understanding the other necessary steps to determine the minimum number of tiedowns.
§393.112 – Understanding if a tiedown needs to be adjustable.
§393.114 – Familiarizing oneself with the requirements for front end structures used as part of a cargo securement system.
