Having evidence of your adherence to these hours and compliance with the restrictions is crucial. Hours can be recorded electronically, manually, or via a time record. The method you'll need to use is determined by your operation type, driving frequency and distance, and the equipment you operate.

An accurate hours-of-service record at the end of a productive day will align almost perfectly with your plan. Canada Hours of Service Training: Record of Duty Status is structured to instruct drivers on the appropriate usage of each type of record and how each is assessed during a roadside inspection. It also provides guidance on trip planning to avoid violations.
