Designed to Thrive – An Ergonomic Quest
How One Woman’s Mission to Prevent Pain Is Transforming Workplaces Across Industries

She Helped Make Ergonomics a Standard. Now She’s Rewriting What It Means to Be Safe at Work.
Linda Miller didn’t plan to change the way people sit, stand, or move at work—she just wanted to help them heal. As a rehab specialist, she saw what happens when prevention comes too late: careers ended by chronic pain and preventable injuries.
“I kept thinking, why do we wait until people are broken to start fixing things?”
That question led her from rehabilitation into ergonomics, where she discovered the real power wasn’t in recovery—it was in design. Her first case? A lumber mill plagued with wrist injuries. That was the start of a career built on one simple idea:
Don’t fit the person to the job. Design the job for the person.
From operating rooms to construction sites, Linda’s company, EWI Works, has helped organizations rethink safety—not just for compliance, but for comfort, focus, and performance. Her work proves that small changes can have massive effects.
“It’s not just about fewer injuries. It’s about more birthdays, more ball games, more life.“
