Workplace Safety for Office Professionals

It's easy to underestimate the potential hazards in an office environment- the deadliest threat seemingly being drawn-out meetings. Nevertheless, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that approximately 76,000 office workers suffer disabling injuries annually in the U.S. The risks might not be as visible as in a factory, but they exist nonetheless.

Workplace Safety for Office Professionals

COURSE OVERVIEW

Offices may not appear to be hazardous environments – the most lethal danger seemingly being prolonged meetings. Nevertheless, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that approximately 76,000 office workers suffer debilitating injuries annually in the U.S.

That’s why we’ve developed the Workplace Safety for Office Professionals video series. This engaging and instructive training course is tailored to protect you from the unseen perils of office work.

We address everything from the correct arrangement of your workstation to preventing debilitating back or neck injuries, tackling the most frequent causes of stress and strain. (Although we can’t help with irritating colleagues. That’s something you’ll have to handle on your own.)

You wouldn’t be blamed for assuming that watching this series would be a monotonous and painful experience. Safety training usually is. However, we don’t want to create dull videos any more than you want to watch them.

That’s why our videos are packed with enough humor to make you chuckle out loud. So, it might be a good idea to use headphones while you watch. Your laughter will be all the more amusing if your colleagues can’t hear what you’re laughing at.

In essence, these videos are as entertaining as they are beneficial. So sit back – without tumbling from your chair – and prepare to enjoy our Workplace Safety for Office Professionals series. Because at The Jeff Havens Company, we deliver serious solutions in a seriously amusing manner.

COURSE TOPICS

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained knowledge on:

  • Preventing computer-induced eye strain.
  • Setting up your workstation correctly to minimize injury risk.
  • Avoiding the most prevalent office injury – slips, trips, and falls.
  • The correct way to use a chair (trust us, the video for this is a riot).
  • Correct lifting techniques.
  • Understanding the significance of appropriate breathing protection. Surgical masks don’t usually cut it, folks!
  • How not to set your building on fire.

The course also delves into the following topics:

Preventing Digital Eye Strain

  • Eye strain is the most frequently reported physical complaint in office-related occupations, and prolonged exposure can purportedly cause your eyeballs to fall out of your head. Although the latter part is likely untrue, the rest of it is a reality. This video will ensure that the screens you stare at all day don’t cause more harm than good. Additionally, you’ll witness the world’s most disastrous eye exam and see what happens when you enlist your friends to assist in filming a safety video. Enjoy!

Designing an Ergonomic Workstation

  • This video tackles some of the leading causes of injury due to poor workstation design and demonstrates several straightforward ways to improve them. You’ll also witness some incredible dance moves and learn about a shocking new method to motivate your employees. Who would have guessed that a training video about ergonomics could be so entertaining?

Chair Safety, Proper Posture, and Perhaps Some Other Things

  • While we couldn’t come up with a catchy title involving the word ‘posture,’ we did manage to create an engaging video to show you how to prevent back injuries by sitting and standing correctly. You’ll also discover some incredible uses for wheely chairs and some fun ways to take a healthy break from work. A video about chair safety you’ll want to watch twice? Absolutely. That’s what this is.

Correct Lifting Techniques

  • This video will aid you in avoiding a potentially life-altering back injury, unless you disregard everything we tell you. You’ll understand why proper posture is so important (hint: it’s not just because it looks good), and you’ll also see a bunch of foolish ways to lift things that you’ve probably done yourself.

Hearing Protection

  • In this video, you’ll learn how simple it is to suffer hearing loss in the workplace and how to prevent it. You’ll also learn the difference between 80 decibels and 85 (which is not as evident as it should be), and there might be some other stuff in here too. We can’t recall.

Fall Prevention Essentials

  • Excluding motor vehicle accidents, falls at work are the most frequent form of workplace injury. This video will help you identify various falling hazards and take simple steps to prevent injury. We’ll also cover some highly ineffective ways to prevent slips, trips & falls, and there may be several people ascending and descending stairs with varying degrees of success. Did we film some realistic falling sequences to scare you into obedience? You’ll have to watch to find out!

Fire Prevention Essentials

  • In case you don’t want to catch on fire today, we’ve made this video to help ensure that you avoid the most common causes of fire in the workplace. You’ll also see a terribly organized evacuation drill, and there might be a hint of romance in this one too. Enjoy!
