This includes correct handling, packaging, labeling, placarding, paperwork, and incident reporting protocols. The course also covers details about the international transportation of dangerous goods between Canada and the United States.
Transporting dangerous goods presents multiple risks to workers, the public, and the environment. Those participating in the transportation of such goods within Canada have the responsibility to prevent harm, damage, and environmental impacts by adhering to safety rules and operating in a responsible manner. To facilitate this, the TDG Act and Regulations were established. Strict compliance with these guidelines ensures the safety of drivers, the public, and the environment during the transportation of dangerous goods within Canada.
The TDG - Transportation of Dangerous Goods course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge about the Canadian TDG Act and its corresponding regulations, to assist learners in the safe and proper transportation of hazardous goods. As part of this course, attendees will grasp their duties and obligations under this Act, understand relevant sections of the legislation, and the necessary steps for secure and accountable transportation of dangerous goods. This includes, but is not limited to, correct handling, packaging, labelling, placarding, paperwork, and incident reporting protocols. The course also delivers insights on the international transportation of dangerous goods between Canada and the United States.

- Roles and responsibilities of handlers, consignors, transporters, drivers, and receivers
- Dangerous good classifications and shipping descriptions
- Classes and sub-classes of dangerous goods

- Shipping documentation for dangerous goods
- Handling procedures for dangerous goods
- Identifying and reporting dangerous good incidents
- Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAPs)

Approximately 120 minutes
Assessments are carried out throughout the course. Test questions are designed to reinforce the information presented and must be completed by each participant. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Each participant is allowed to repeat the course THREE TIMES if the course pass mark has not been achieved on the first attempt. Additional materials to assist you through the course will be available upon registration.
Participants who successfully pass the course will be able to download and print an online certificate of completion through the learning management system.
