COURSE OVERVIEW


This course, titled ‘Supervisor’s Role’, is curated to assist supervisors in comprehending their health and safety duties within the workplace. It aims to ensure supervisors are aware of their legal obligations under relevant occupational health and safety laws, and explores the challenges and underlying factors that impact occupational health and safety systems.

The ‘Supervisor’s Role’ course also inspires supervisors to adopt a proactive approach to enhance the occupational health and safety system they operate within, for the benefit of themselves, their colleagues, and their overall work environment.

    (Continuing Education Units)

    This course offers 3.25 technical hours. 

    BCRSP 

    This course may qualify for 0.3 CEUs for Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) – Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD Program) for the purpose of recertification in maintaining the BCRSP certification.     WWOC Program 

    Water and Wastewater Operators’ Certification Program (WWOC Program) endorsed 0.3 CEUs to apply to Operators practicing under the WWOC Program. Visit www.alberta.ca/water-wastewater-operator-certification.aspx for the Alberta Water and Wastewater Operators’ Certification Guidelines. 

COURSE TOPICS

    Upon completion of the ‘Supervisor’s Role’ course, you will be able to address the following topics:

    • What is the supervisor’s role in health and safety?
    • Who holds responsibility and accountability for safety?
    • What factors contribute to an effective health and safety management system (HSMS)?
    • What does health and safety entail?
    • What is the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code?
    • How can you enhance your HSMS?
ONLINE COURSE DURATION


Approximately 2 hours.


PASS MARK


Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.


CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION


Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing. This course is recommended to be retaken every 3 years from the course completion date indicated on the certificate.
