RSTS – Working Safely Around Traffic

COURSE OVERVIEW

In the roadbuilding and heavy construction industries, one of the major threats to worker safety is the potential for conflict with motorists, work vehicles, or mobile equipment in work zones. The RSTS – Working Safely Around Traffic course provides comprehensive training on how to maintain safety in such environments, focusing on the viewpoints of traffic control personnel, ground workers, and heavy equipment operators. Participants will learn about the necessity of creating, understanding, and adhering to the traffic control plan, the crucial elements of traffic awareness, and how to devise an effective escape route. The course also covers safe work practices for special situations such as operating in low visibility, equipment loading and unloading, and equipment operation near traffic. Upon completion, participants will be equipped to recognize hazards and manage the risks associated with working around traffic.

The RSTS – Working Safely Around Traffic course is designed for individuals who work near traffic, including traffic control personnel, work crews, landscapers, surveyors, testing personnel, heavy equipment operators, and truck drivers.
