The Rigging (Intermediate) course, accessible online, is divided into three modules aimed at imparting knowledge and skills for the secure slinging and rigging of loads. The materials in this course are intended for personnel involved in rigging and supervision, who handle all types of hoisting equipment.
Standards for Intermediate Rigging Course
This course has been designed to meet the requirements of the following standards:
- CSA Z150-98
In addition, it complies with ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards.
The following topics are covered in this online Intermediate Rigging course:
- Risk assessment before lifting
- Duties of the owner, operator, and supervisor
- Wire rope design
- Safety ratios and safe load limits
- Inspection of ropes and slings
- Procedures for hoist line installation
- Various rigging hitches
- Determining sling types, sizes, and configurations using sling capacity charts
- D/d ratios
- Centre of gravity in a sling
- Signals for crane and hoist
Estimated 3 to 3.5 hours
To pass this course, a score of 80% is required. The course can be attempted three times to achieve the pass mark.
On successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion can be downloaded and printed.
