OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE

This web-based Overhead Cranes course is structured to endow you with the necessary knowledge for the safe operation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead cranes.

On successful completion, you will be able to:

COURSE TOPICS
Module 1: Crane Accidents

  • Various types of overhead crane accidents
  • The leading causes of dropped loads

Module 2: Inspection and Maintenance

  • Adherence to the manufacturer’s guidelines during inspection
  • Pre-start inspections and logbooks
  • Correct spooling of wire rope on hoist drums
  • Inspections of wire ropes, end attachments, hoist blocks, equalizer sheaves, and hoist drums
  • Testing of high and low limit switches, controls for proper operation, and hoist brakes
  • Inspection schedules as per maintenance

Module 3: Basic Safety Recommendations

  • The Dos and Don’ts of safe operation
  • Crane hand signals

Though this course covers some aspects related to Rigging, it is advised that operators also undertake Rigging (Basic), Rigging (Intermediate) or Rigging and Slinging (Advanced) along with it.

MINIMUM PASSING SCORE

The testing conducted in this digital Overhead Cranes course is intended to reinforce the information imparted. A score of 70% is required to earn a certificate of completion. If the pass mark is not achieved on the first try, participants have the opportunity to retake the course twice. Online access to print resources that further solidify the course information is provided.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of this web-based course, a certificate of completion will be accessible for download and print. This certificate is valid for 36 months. Please note that, in some jurisdictions, additional practical evaluation on equipment may be required to ensure regulatory compliance.
