ICS 200 Awareness Online Course
The ICS 200 Awareness course is designed for frontline supervisors and responders who may be the first on scene and need to establish command and initiate elements of the Incident Command System (ICS). It is also suitable for staff within larger organizations. This course builds on the I-100 course, providing a deeper understanding of ICS features, principles, and organizational structure. Participants will learn to manage single resources and establish command effectively. The prerequisite for this course is successful completion of I-100.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the ICS Structure: Understand the level of ICS organization that is appropriate for various incident complexities, ensuring a scalable and adaptable response framework.
- Establish Command: Effectively establish command using the ICS framework, demonstrating the ability to manage single resources during initial action incidents.
- Implement Leadership and Management Principles: Apply the principles of leadership and management within the ICS, including the chain of command, formal and informal communication, and delegation of authority.
- Set and Achieve Incident Objectives: Develop and implement incident objectives, integrating them into the ICS structure to guide response efforts.
- Adapt Organizational Structure: Utilize organizational flexibility within the ICS to respond to changing incident dynamics and objectives.
- Conduct Effective Briefings: Organize and deliver various types of briefings and meetings critical to incident management.
- Manage Transfer of Command: Understand and apply the procedures for transferring command to ensure continuity and effectiveness in incident management.
