COURSE OVERVIEW

This program is intended to assist drivers in avoiding driving a commercial vehicle while exhausted and adhering to the hours-of-service constraints.

Upon completion of this Hours of Service Limits training course, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand that fatigue necessitates drivers to stop operating even if they have remaining legal hours
  • Recognize off-duty activities that count as a 10-hour break
  • Explain how the 14-hour limit is computed
  • Determine which duty status is monitored by the 11-hour limit
  • Decide when to apply the 60- or 70-hour limit
  • Identify an exception that resets the 60- or 70-hour limit
  • Clarify how to meet the 30-minute break rule under the interruption of driving provision
  • Distinguish between cumulative and sequential limits
