COURSE OVERVIEW

Our Health & Safety Representatives (HSR) course was conceived through a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Ontario’s Health and Safety Systems partners. In Ontario workplaces that regularly employ between 6 and 19 workers, a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) is mandatory. This online single-day basic eLearning program is designed to help HSRs in carrying out their legislative duties efficiently.

COURSE TOPICS

This HSR course covers the following topics:

  • Occupational health and safety law
  • Rights, duties, and responsibilities of the workplace parties
  • Duties and responsibilities of the HSR under the OHSA
  • Common workplace hazards
  • Hazard recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation (RACE methodology) of hazard controls
  • Applying the RACE methodology to a workplace hazard
  • Health and safety resources available to the workplace parties

ONLINE COURSE DURATION

Estimated time to complete: 480 minutes

PASS MARK

To reinforce learning, testing is conducted throughout this online HSR course. All modules must be completed to pass this course. You are allowed three attempts to achieve the certification.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of this online HSR course, you will be able to download and print a certificate of completion.
