Upon course completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to explain the duties of a first aid provider, discern the legal and ethical implications of the role, and understand when and how to safely move patients who are ill or injured.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Upon course completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to explain the duties of a first aid provider, discern the legal and ethical implications of the role, and understand when and how to safely move patients who are ill or injured.

By successfully completing this First Aid – Fundamentals course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the following:

  • Identify and understand the responsibilities of a first responder, and discern the potential legal and ethical challenges associated with this role.
  • Learn how to evaluate and respond effectively to a medical emergency situation.
  • Understand the steps to take when dealing with conscious or unconscious victims.
  • Grasp when it is and isn’t suitable to move an ill or injured person and discover the correct positioning techniques to use while awaiting EMS arrival.
  • Identify the signs of shock and understand how to respond to individuals suffering from shock.

Testing conducted throughout this online First Aid – Fundamentals course is designed to reinforce the information presented. To attain a certificate of completion, a mark of 80% must be achieved. Participants are allowed two attempts to achieve the pass mark.

Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
