COURSE OVERVIEW

Every worker needs to be cognizant of the fire risks present in their workspace and be prepared to act in case of a fire. The Fire Prevention and Response course aims to educate learners on the fundamental aspects of a fire, measures to prevent them, and the correct response to a fire situation in the workspace.

Upon successful completion of the Fire Prevention and Response course, learners will have gained the following competencies:

  • Understanding the fire tetrahedron and the mechanics of how fires start and spread
  • Recognizing the hazards of fire and the importance of quick evacuation during a fire
  • Identifying appropriate housekeeping practices and safe handling procedures for materials that can help mitigate fire risks
  • Understanding the OSHA regulations for emergency action planning, fire prevention plans, and evacuation procedures in case of a significant fire
  • Discussing the fundamental steps to follow during an evacuation
