This module will instruct you on how to ensure safety and reduce potential risks during field research, a setting where hazards are less predictable and more challenging to manage compared to a lab environment.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Upon finishing the Field Research Safety course, you should acquire a comprehensive understanding of the following:

Discern the difference between your duties and responsibilities as a field researcher (this includes reporting occupational incidents, injuries, or accidents) and those of the principal investigator and team leader.
Understand the significance of pre-fieldwork preparation, which includes getting the necessary medical treatments such as vaccinations, procuring required travel documents, compiling necessary personal protective equipment, and training for specific activities.
Identify potential threats posed by fieldwork and strategies to prevent personal injury.
Be aware of the specific risks associated with field research and the methods to counteract those risks, including the steps to take during emergencies.

PASS MARK

Tests conducted throughout this online module are designed to reinforce the information presented. A score of 80% must be achieved to receive a completion certificate. Participants can retake the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
