This web-based course offers an overview of the fundamentals of arc flash hazard awareness. Subjects covered in this course include:

Definition of an arc flash
Causes of an arc flash
Factors that contribute to arc flash and its effects
Arc flash and the worker, and
Methods of personal protection

ELECTRICAL SAFETY TRAINING

This detailed online course aims to ensure that electrical workers are aware of the dangers associated with electricity and know how to avoid them. Subjects covered in the Electrical Safety Training Program include:

Energy flow and barriers
Inductions
Step and touch potential
Electricity's interaction with the human body
Electrical shock and arc flash hazards
Safety training for the qualified electrical worker

ONLINE COURSE LENGTH

Estimated at 4.25 Hours

MINIMUM PASSING SCORE

Testing conducted throughout each of the three online courses in this suite is designed to reinforce the information presented. A score of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to retake each course twice if the pass mark is not achieved. Supplemental materials necessary to complete each course can be accessed online.

CERTIFICATION OF COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of each online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU)

This course qualifies for Continuing Education Credits from the Engineering Institute of Canada.
