This web-based Defensive Driving Awareness program teaches you strategies for operating your automobile safely in all weather conditions, conducting vehicle check-ups, and mentally preparing for the journey.
The necessity of driving is ingrained in our daily routine, and mostly, we reach our destination without a hitch. However, a single slip-up can have life-altering consequences for us and others. With an increasingly large number of vehicles on the road and drivers under stress, it’s up to each of us to prioritize safety and well-being. Our skill levels may vary based on our experience, but as driving conditions evolve, being a proficient driver demands continuous learning and practice. More than anything, we need to have the right mindset. A vigilant, proactive, safety-first attitude can enhance road travel safety for ourselves and others.
This web-based Defensive Driving Awareness program is structured into six comprehensive modules. These modules include:
- Module 1: Understanding Defensive Driving
- Module 2: Vehicle Safety & Regular Maintenance
- Module 3: Avoiding Distracted Driving
- Module 4: Mastering Defensive Driving Techniques
- Module 5: Preventing Collisions
- Module 6: Safe Winter Driving
Upon course completion, a final exam will validate your understanding.
Being a defensive driver requires a thorough understanding of driving practices, vehicle upkeep, mental preparation, and more! By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the significance of maintaining a positive attitude while driving
- Enumerate the methods and techniques necessary for vehicle safety
- Identify potential driving hazards and strategies to avoid or deal with them
- Define distracted driving and understand its associated risks
- Explain how to safely follow, brake, steer, and reverse
- Conduct safe lane changes and navigate intersections
- Recognize situations where driving should be avoided
- Prepare oneself and the vehicle for winter and adverse driving conditions
Roughly 90 minutes
Achieving a score of 80% is mandatory to earn a certificate of completion for this online Defensive Driving Awareness course. If the pass mark is not achieved, participants have the opportunity to retake the course twice.
Upon successful completion of this online program, a certificate of completion will be readily available for download and printing.
