This construction safety course is developed for construction supervisors, managers, company owners, estimators, and new safety representatives. It will guide participants in creating a safe work environment suitable for their construction company by introducing them to the fundamental principles of safety, regulatory guidelines, and Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit requirements.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Our Construction Safety for Supervisors course is tailored for those in supervisory roles within the construction industry, including managers, owners, estimators, and new safety representatives. This course will equip participants with the necessary knowledge to establish a safe and compliant work environment in their construction company, introducing them to important regulatory guidelines and the requirements for the Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit.

Additionally, participants will acquire practical skills for overseeing construction sites, conducting toolbox discussions, delivering health and safety education, performing regular safety audits, executing safety investigations following an accident, and creating a safety manual.

COURSE TOPICS

This course comprises 7 video modules with 6 hours of expert instruction and material. Upon successful completion, you are eligible for 5 CCA Gold Seal credits.

  • Define safety and determine responsibilities including as a “prime contractor”
  • Understand the legislative requirements for maintaining a safe workplace
  • Define and develop elements to create a quality occupational health and safety program
  • Integrate safety into planning
  • Conduct hazard assessments – assess risk and hazard priorities
  • Identify the components of a quality training program
  • Conduct a new worker safety orientation
  • Conduct a successful tailgate meeting
  • Make on-the-job health and safety training a natural part of your job site activity
  • Prepare for an inspection and develop an inspection checklist
  • Understand which incidents require investigation
  • Conduct timely incident or accident investigations
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to prevent future reoccurrences
  • Understand the safety systems and document management required
  • Understand the key elements of an OH&S Committee
  • Understand how to build a safety culture within a construction company

ONLINE COURSE DURATION

Approximately 6 hours

PASS MARK

Testing is integrated throughout this online course to reinforce the information presented. A score of 80% must be achieved to pass this course. Participants have the opportunity to take the course three times to achieve the pass mark. A comprehensive student manual is available for download and printing, serving as a valuable tool for future reference and knowledge retention.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of this online Construction Safety for Supervisors course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
