Confined Spaces: Entry Team Training – Construction Activities

This web-based course equips workers with the necessary knowledge to meet OSHA standards regarding construction activities in confined spaces.

Confined Spaces: Entry Team Training – Construction Activities

COURSE OVERVIEW

Inherently, confined spaces limit the ability of workers to safely carry out tasks, enter, or exit them for extended durations.

Even more perilous are permit-required confined spaces, which possess one or more additional hazards: the possibility of a hazardous atmosphere, substance that could engulf a worker, an internal structure that could entrap or asphyxiate, or another severe safety or health risk. Such conditions have led to incidents causing injury or death to workers.

Upon finishing the Confined Spaces: Entry Team Training – Construction Activities course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between a confined space and a permit-required confined space
  • Recognize the hazards in a permit-required confined space and the strategies used to isolate, manage, or protect employees
  • Understand the necessary precautions before entering a confined space
  • Elucidate the roles of each entry team member (authorized entrant, attendant, and entry supervisor)
  • Discuss the steps taken to ensure a successful permit space rescue and non-entry rescue
