Cold Stress Awareness

Cold stress refers to the body's loss of heat in a cold environment. Factors such as low temperatures, wind, and dampness can combine to cause cold stress, resulting in injuries or illness. Disorders related to cold, such as hypothermia and frostbite, can be fatal or cause harm to workers. It's crucial for employers and employees to understand the risks of cold stress and how to prevent and treat related disorders.

Cold Stress Awareness

COURSE OVERVIEW

The definition of extreme cold and its effects can differ in various parts of the country. In regions that typically don’t experience winter weather, temperatures near freezing are considered “extreme cold”. When temperatures plunge significantly below normal, and wind speed rises, your body can lose heat more quickly. These weather conditions may lead to severe health issues. Extreme cold is a hazardous situation that can result in health emergencies.

This e-learning Cold Stress Awareness course explores the causes of cold stress, its impacts, and methods to prevent and treat cold stress.
