UNDERSTANDING CA SB553?

Mandates all CA employers (excluding facilities governed under Title 8 section 3342, and enterprises with less than 10 employees with no public contact) to:

  • Formulate a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan with feedback from employees
  • Educate the entire workforce including your specific Workplace Violence Plan
  • Effective date: July 1, 2024
  • Offer training annually, upon employment, when the WVPP is modified, or new threats arise

Crucial Reminder!

To fully comply with CA SB553 regulations, your organization’s Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) MUST BE INCORPORATED INTO THE TRAINING.

Participants will be asked and guided to upload a copy of their WVPP and to confirm access and the chance to contribute to the development and execution of the WVPP as mandated by SB553.
If you are procuring the course for staff, before giving log-in distribute a copy of the WVPP and inform them they will need to upload it and confirm access.

PASS MARK


A score of 80% is necessary to earn a certificate of completion. Participants are permitted to retake the course up to two times if the pass mark is not met.
