COURSE OVERVIEW

When you set sail on the water, safety is paramount. Each year, approximately 525 Canadians succumb to water-related accidents. Simple steps, such as wearing suitable floatation devices, refraining from drugs and alcohol, and thoroughly planning your trip can greatly lower this figure. For many, boating is an enjoyable pastime. The aim of this Boating Safety course is to ensure that you, your passengers, and other water enthusiasts stay safe.

The Boating Safety course is divided into five modules. They include:

  • Module 1: Familiarizing Yourself with Your Boat
  • Module 2: Essential Safety Equipment
  • Module 3: Duties of a Boater
  • Module 4: Running Your Pleasure Craft
  • Module 5: Handling Emergency Situations

After completion, you will be assessed with a final examination to evaluate your understanding.

COURSE TOPICS

Being a responsible boater requires knowledge concerning all aspects of your vessel, required safety equipment, operating procedures, and much more! By the end of this course, you should be able to

  • Decipher what you need to understand about your boat
  • Outline what safety materials and procedures are essential
  • Recognize the duties of every boater

PASS MARK

To earn a certificate of completion for this Boating Safety course, a score of 80% must be attained. If the pass mark is not achieved in the first attempt, participants can retake the course two more times.
