Frequently Asked Questions
We want to get to know you, and we want you to get to know us. Like any relationship, we invest a lot of time to make sure there is a great fit for both you and for BIS. We typically hold 3 interviews with different people in our organization, though in some cases, there could me more. We often include a skill assessment as well. We move as quickly as we can through this process, but we don’t cut corners or rush things.
As you’ll see in our job postings, we do not include closing dates. That means we will continue to keep the job posting active until we have found the right person. This can take days, weeks, or in some cases months. We keep looking until we find the right person for the role.
We sincerely appreciate all those who choose to submit an application to us – we are humbled that you would consider working with BIS. Due to the sheer number of applications we receive, we are not able to respond to everyone. However, if you are selected for an interview, we will reach out to coordinate a time that works for us all. And we’ll keep you updated as we work through the process with updates, no matter what the outcome.
Congrats! When you receive your interview request, you will be asked to select a date and time that works for you. Our initial interviews will be conducted on Microsoft Teams. Teams can be finicky – test it out in advance if you are new to the platform. Do your research on BIS, and be prepared to discuss any relevant past experience that you feel is relatable to the role. We love speaking with candidates who know what we do, understand what our culture is like, and are eager to join our team. Fill your backpack with passion, and show us why you’d be a great fit!
While we don’t have any consistently running programs, we have worked with Co-op students in the past and are always open to the idea of partnering up if there is a fit between your goals and our needs. If you have a great opportunity you’d like to discuss with us, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at careers@bistraining.ca.
We have team members who do work remotely, yes, though they typically do so because they live in different regions of the country. The vast majority of our team works from our office in Sherwood Park. Every company is different, but we have found incredible success having our team work together, building in-person relationships and increasing the collaboration among the team. There may be the odd exception, but unless otherwise specified in the job posting, expect the role to be an in-person position.
We get a lot of applications, and spend a lot of time reviewing them. But we love seeing applications that really catch our eyes! Use your creativity, and impress us with your skills. We do not have AI bots reviewing applications, we prefer to have human eyes involved in this part of the process. Don’t focus on keyword stuffing your application; we want to know about your skills and about you as a person. Be yourself, be original, be creative. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!
