Gas Respirators

Gain essential knowledge on respiratory hazards, respirator types, fitting, care, and Canadian legislative requirements in this online course.

Gas Respirators

Course Overview

The Gas Respirators course helps workers recognize and respond to atmospheres that can become dangerous in seconds. Many worksites contain gases capable of overwhelming a person’s ability to escape or causing severe illness without warning. When these risks cannot be controlled through engineering or administrative means, respirators serve as a necessary line of defense.

This training explains what gas respirators are designed to do, when they are required, and how to choose the right model for the job. Participants also learn how to don a respirator correctly, how to care for it over time, and what Canadian regulations mandate for safe respiratory protection. A final assessment at the end of the course confirms understanding of these essential principles.

Topic Overview

Understanding respiratory protection is critical for anyone working near airborne contaminants. By completing this course, participants gain a foundational grasp of how hazardous atmospheres develop, how respirators safeguard workers, and why proper fit and maintenance ensure reliable protection.

Course Topics

Learners will:

  • Recognize typical respiratory hazards and conditions that compromise air quality.
  • Explore the various respirator types and understand when each is appropriate.
  • Learn how to maintain, store, and inspect a respirator to keep it functioning safely.
