Confined Space Competent Person (OSHA)
This OSHA-approved safety instruction course prepares workers with the skills and knowledge needed to fulfill the role of a competent person in confined spaces. The course covers a range of topics including the responsibilities of a competent person, equipment usage, testing procedures, operational safety, hazard identification, and rescue strategies. This program satisfies the classroom component for job safety training, supplemented with a practical evaluation checklist for employers. Upon successful completion, participants can obtain a certificate or a wallet card confirming they've completed Confined Space - Competent Person training. Please note: Only an employer can officially certify an employee. Certification standards may differ across states or provinces. Ensure to verify any additional training requirements with local regulatory bodies.
Our Confined Space Competent Person Safety Training program is designed in accordance with regulatory guidelines and covers the following subjects:
- Essential equipment and inspection procedures
- Atmospheric testing and surveillance
- Best practices for safety, including confined space entry protocols
- Identification of potential hazards such as IDLH atmospheres
- Rescue methods

Throughout the course, learners will encounter periodic quiz questions to prepare them for the final written exam. In addition to the written test, this course provides an employer checklist for practical exam administration as required.
While it's essential to be familiar with all other relevant federal, state, provincial, territorial, and local standards, this training includes the following standards:
- 29 CFR 1910.146 – General Industry, Confined Spaces
- 29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA – Construction
- 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B – Shipyards
- 29 CFR 1910.134 – Respiratory Protection
