This Rigger and Signalperson - Intermediate course, which is compliant with Canadian safety training standards, is designed specifically for riggers and signalers. Course Goals:
- Gain knowledge of load securing and learn to avoid common mistakes causing rigging accidents.
- Identify different types of rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, eye bolts, hooks, and commonly used lifting devices.
- Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the equipment and how to inspect it.
- Learn how to calculate the weight of the load, rig the load based on its center of gravity, and calculate the angles and stresses of a pick. Gain knowledge on different methods to secure a load with sling hitches.
- Learn to use voice and hand signals to communicate with the crane operator when moving a load.
