Rigger and Signalperson (Intermediate) (CAN)

This Rigger and Signalperson - Intermediate course, which is compliant with Canadian safety training standards, is designed specifically for riggers and signalers. The course covers a range of topics including definitions, types of slings, hardware, weight and balance, angles and stresses, sling hitches, center of gravity, and communication. This course satisfies the classroom component of occupational safety training and includes a proficiency checklist for employers to use for practical evaluations. Upon completion, participants can download and print a certificate or wallet card as proof of their training. Please note that only employers can grant employee certifications, and certification requirements can vary by state or province. Course Goals:

• Gain knowledge of load securing and learn to avoid common mistakes causing rigging accidents.
• Identify different types of rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, eye bolts, hooks, and commonly used lifting devices.
• Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the equipment and how to inspect it.
• Learn how to calculate the weight of the load, rig the load based on its center of gravity, and calculate the angles and stresses of a pick. Gain knowledge on different methods to secure a load with sling hitches.
• Learn to use voice and hand signals to communicate with the crane operator when moving a load.
