This advanced Rigger and Signalperson course is designed to meet the Canada-compliant safety training requirements for experienced riggers and signalers. Upon successful completion, participants can download and print a certificate or wallet card as proof of their advanced training in Rigger and Signalperson. However, it is essential to note that only employers can officially certify employees. Certification requirements can differ based on regional standards. Course Goals:
- Comprehend the significance of securing loads appropriately and avoid common rigging accidents.
- Identify various rigging equipment like slings, shackles, eye bolts, hooks, and commonly used lifting devices.
- Understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of this equipment and the inspection process.
- Learn to estimate the load’s weight, calculate the angles and stresses of a pick, and familiarize yourself with different methods to secure a load using sling hitches.
- Grasp the basics of crane operations, including rigging the load based on its center of gravity. Learn about the requirements for critical lifts, tandem lifts, and lifting personnel.
- Understand safe crane operating principles, including pre-lift planning and inspections. Additionally, we examine the limitations of some equipment and safety features.
- Recognize the changing conditions of your worksite.
- Use voice and hand signals to communicate with the crane operator when moving a load.
