Health and Safety in the Workplace

COURSE OVERVIEW

Workplace mishaps are quite prevalent. In 2018, the Association of Worker’s Compensation Boards of Canada noted 265,000 approved claims for work-related injury or disease and 1,027 workplace deaths, marking an increase of 5.5% and 7.4% from the previous year, respectively. Bear in mind, these figures do not include unreported or disapproved cases, indicating the actual number of incidents could be much higher.

Both employees and employers are negatively impacted by insufficient safety measures at work, just as they profit from the implementation and enforcement of effective health and safety protocols. Indeed, working in a safe environment fosters a sense of appreciation and respect among workers, thereby boosting their productivity and dedication.

Our Health and Safety in the Workplace course offers learners a fundamental understanding of health and safety practices in Canadian workplaces. Participants will be introduced to basic health and safety practices, policies, and procedures that contribute to a safer work environment for all. The course material aligns with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Acts of Canada and satisfies the basic safety awareness training requirements across all provinces.
