COURSE OVERVIEW


The primary aim of this course titled "Detection and Control of Flammable and Toxic Atmospheres" is to impart knowledge about identifying and managing flammable and toxic environments to ensure your safety while working in areas that may contain hazardous gases. The course offers detailed insights into the most common detector tube devices (such as bellows and piston) and various types of gas monitors (personal, portable, and fixed). This course aligns with IRP7 requirements and discusses explosive ranges, toxic atmospheres, oxygen levels, combustible substances, principles of flammable gas, vapor detection, and much more!

COURSE TOPICS


Module 1: Introduction

This initial module familiarizes you with the topics that will be explained throughout the course, what to expect, and the importance of this course for you.

Module 2: Detector Tube Devices
This module provides a comprehensive introduction to the most commonly used types of detector tube devices and safe methods for their operation.

Module 3: Continuous Gas Monitors
This module extensively covers the three types of continuous gas monitors: personal, portable, and fixed. It also details how to safely wear, operate, maintain, and use this detection equipment, as well as how to perform a bump test.

Module 4: Combustible Gas Monitors
This module provides a detailed explanation of combustible gas monitors and their functioning. Topics covered include thermal conductivity, semiconductor sensors, catalytic sensors, display features, equipment-related challenges, and measurements.

Module 5: Fixed Continuous Monitors
This module provides an overview of fixed continuous monitors, highlighting their roles and features.

Module 6: Gas Testing
This module offers an overview of gas testing and how to use detection equipment.

Module 7: Conclusion
This module reviews the information presented in the course to prepare for the final examination.

Module 8: End of Course
The final exam consists of 20 questions from a question bank and allows three attempts to pass. If unsuccessful, it's advised to review the content before reattempting the exam. A minimum score of 80% is required to acquire certification.

PASSING GRADE

A score of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are allowed to retake the course twice if the passing grade is not achieved on the first attempt.
