The web-based Laboratory Ergonomics course emphasizes the essentiality of organizing workspaces effectively, as well as offering strategies to lessen the physical burden of utilizing laboratory equipment, tools and devices. Various tasks performed in a lab can put significant pressure on muscles and joints, potentially leading to severe injuries. To ensure safety and maintain optimal ergonomic health, lab employees need to understand how to dodge movements and work routines that could be damaging.
The web-based Laboratory Ergonomics course delves into the following subjects:
- Body parts most prone to ergonomic issues
- How to set up workspaces to reduce stress and strain
- Working from “neutral” positions
- Types of body movements that cause the most and least stress
- Correct lifting techniques

Tests administered during this web-based course aim to reinforce the material provided. A score of 80% is required to pass this course. Participants have up to three attempts to reach the pass score. A comprehensive student manual, which is a useful resource for future reference and knowledge retention, is available for printing.
On successfully finishing this online course, a completion certificate will be readily available for download and print.
