It covers rules and regulations, rights and responsibilities, and provides practical advice on how to manage cannabis usage and safety at work.
Upon the completion of this ‘Cannabis & the Workplace: Employer Overview/Rights and Responsibilities’ course, you will have acquired:
- Knowledge about the changes in cannabis laws up to 2018
- Understanding the distinction between recreational and medical cannabis use
- Explanation of critical terminologies associated with workplace safety and cannabis use
- Guidance on updating workplace Drug and Alcohol Policy to reflect changes in cannabis laws
- Understanding of the rights and responsibilities of employers, managers, supervisors, and employees in relation to cannabis and the workplace
- Basic knowledge of the legislation governing these rights and responsibilities
- Understanding of the significance of confidentiality and record-keeping
- Knowledge about when and why impairment testing is necessary
- Tips and timelines for post-incident testing
- Understanding of when and why to conduct drug testing for reasonable cause
- Brief introduction to disclosure and the duty to accommodate

The ‘Cannabis & the Workplace: Employer Overview/Rights and Responsibilities’ course includes tests to reinforce the material taught. A score of 80% is required to earn a completion certificate. Participants have the option to retake the course twice if they do not meet the pass mark.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be accessible for download and printing.
