Workplace Safety Basics: In Case of an Emergency

The responsibility of ensuring a safe working environment is a collective effort between employers and their employees. According to the General Duty Clause, (Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act of 1970,) employers are mandated by OSHA to create safe workspaces for their workers. However, each worker must also be conscious of potential risks they might encounter, take proactive steps to mitigate or eradicate them, and report any hazards/unsafe conditions promptly.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Ensuring a risk-free work environment is a mutual responsibility between employers and workers. In line with the General Duty Clause, (Section 5(a)(1) of the OSH Act of 1970,) OSHA imposes an obligation on employers to establish secure workplaces for their employees. Nevertheless, each worker must also be vigilant of possible dangers they may face, initiate measures to prevent or remove them, and report any hazards or unsafe circumstances immediately. The ‘Workplace Safety Basics: In Case of an Emergency’ course aims to equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle emergencies at the workplace.

The ‘Workplace Safety Basics: In Case of an Emergency’ online course encompasses the following subjects:

  • Emergency Action Plans
  • First Aid/Emergency Response
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • HAZWOPER
  • Workplace Violence
  • Medical Records

Upon course completion, you will be equipped to:  

  • Understand and execute appropriate measures during an emergency, depending on their authorization level

The course duration is approximately 20 minutes

PASS MARK

The course includes periodic testing to help reinforce the material presented. A minimum score of 80% is required to successfully complete the course. Participants can attempt the course up to three times to achieve the passing score. A comprehensive student manual, available for printing, serves as a valuable resource for future reference and knowledge retention.
