The danger posed by icy surfaces is often underestimated. Our online course, Walking on Icy Surfaces, is purposefully designed to equip you with the necessary strategies to avoid slips and falls on icy ground. As part of the course, you will gain a deeper understanding of ice, its formation and accumulation, and the potential hazards one might face without adequate preparation.
The Walking on Icy Surfaces course includes the following key areas of study:
- The hazards of trekking on ice
- The process of ice formation
- Ice accumulation zones
- Strategies to avoid falls on icy terrain
- Appropriate footwear for icy conditions
- Safety equipment
- Entering and exiting a vehicle safely
The course is approximately 30 minutes in length.
To successfully complete the course, a minimum score of 80% is required. Participants may attempt the course up to three times to achieve the passing grade.
Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
