Arc Flash Hazard Awareness

PROGRAM SYNOPSIS

When an electric current flows through air between ungrounded conductors or between ungrounded conductors and grounded conductors, it can generate temperatures as high as 20,000°C (35,000°F). This intense heat can cause severe burns and ignite clothing, worsening the injury. Arc flash burns account for the majority of hospitalizations resulting from electrical accidents. Each year, over 2,000 individuals in the United States are treated in burn centres for severe arc flash burns. Arc Flash can be fatal even at a distance of 3 meters (10 ft).

The Arc Flash Hazard Awareness course aims to educate learners about the potential dangers associated with the use of electricity. Regardless of whether you are an experienced journeyman, an apprentice, an engineer, a student, or a manager, this course is crafted to meet your needs.

PASSING CRITERIA

The assessments in this online Arc Flash Awareness course are designed to reinforce the information presented. A score of 80% must be achieved to receive a certificate of completion. Participants have two additional attempts if the passing score is not achieved during the first try. All required materials for this program can be accessed online.

COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

Upon successful completion of this online program, a certificate of completion will be available for download and print.
