COURSE OVERVIEW

The Fire Safety Awareness course aims to address the alarming rate of workplace fire incidents and associated explosions, which, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), stands at over 75,000 annually. The grave risks associated with fire, including intense heat, smoke, and poisonous gases, can severely compromise the safety of individuals in the vicinity.

The most effective strategy to mitigate injuries and fatalities from these hazards is fire prevention. With the successful completion of this Fire Safety Awareness course, learners should be able to identify:

  • Components of a fire prevention strategy, including preventative measures
  • Standards for emergency exits
  • Appropriate actions during a fire outbreak, including fundamental evacuation guidelines and the use of handheld fire extinguishers
  • The various classes of fire, different types of portable fire extinguishers, and workplace norms regarding fire extinguishers

PASS MARK

The Fire Safety Awareness course includes tests designed to reinforce the concepts taught. To receive a certificate of completion, a score of 80% is required. If the passing score is not achieved on the first attempt, the course can be retaken twice.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

On successful completion of the Fire Safety Awareness course, learners can download and print a certificate of completion.
