A pandemic influenza, such as the H1N1 virus, is a novel influenza strain that spreads as effortlessly as common influenza. Pandemics can lead to the death of millions and cause substantial societal upheaval, however, their effects can be lessened. This is why our country, along with the rest of the globe, is making preparations to promptly identify a burgeoning pandemic, and then slow its spread while developing countermeasures.
