    Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness

    The Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness course presents essential safety protocols for lawn care. The course is designed for workers and supervisors at the forefront of lawn care activities. This course is particularly relevant to those involved in municipal lawn care operations (e.g., mowing, mower servicing) and their supervisors, as well as workers in other sectors carrying out similar tasks (e.g., landscaping, golf course upkeep)

    Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness

    COURSE OVERVIEW

    The Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness course is a complimentary offering that presents essential principles and foundational information on lawn care safety. The course includes an overview of the relevant Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation, interactive infographics, expert advice, and real-life examples to underscore the importance of the subject matter. 

    AMHSA also offers a free Online Lawn Maintenance Safety Toolkit (available at Lawn Maintenance Safety Toolkit | AMHSA) 

     

    For Alberta participants who want to deepen their knowledge and gain practical training, they can register for the Lawn Maintenance Safety Program (LMSP), which comprises a full day of instructor-led training, split evenly between classroom instruction and practical training. 

     

    The Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness course and the Lawn Maintenance Safety Program were created as part of a Creative Sentencing judgement following the tragic death of a young municipal lawn care worker.

    COURSE TOPICS

    The 2.5 hour self-guided Lawn Maintenance Safety Awareness course covers: 

    • Module 1: Hazard Assessment Execution 

    • Module 2: Inspection Procedures 

    • Module 3: Equipment Operation 

    • Module 4: Equipment Stowing

    Course Length

    This course will take roughly 120 minutes

    Passing Mark

    To pass this training course, you need to score 80% or higher on the quiz

    Certificate

    Upon the successful completion of this course a certificate with your name will be stored on your profile and available to print
