Dropped objects are the leading cause of severe harm and fatalities, as well as equipment damage, in numerous industries in Canada and worldwide. Every year, more than 26,000 incidents involving dropped objects are reported in Canada. In the United States, over 50,000 workers were injured and 81 lost their lives due to contact with airborne or falling objects or machinery in 2016.

In this “Dropped Object Prevention Awareness” video, we’ll explain what a dropped object is, when and how it can happen. We’ll explore the repercussions of an item falling from a height, and discuss a variety of control methods and preventative measures.
