Creating a Safe Industrial Workplace

Every 7 seconds, a worker is hurt on the job - and four of the top five sites where people are most likely to be injured are industrial workplaces. We believe it's okay to take risks - like skydiving, or consuming milk past its expiry date if you're feeling adventurous - but there's no justification for unnecessary risks in areas where accidents are commonplace and often severe.

COURSE OVERVIEW

Every 7 seconds, a worker is hurt on the job – and four of the top five sites where people are most likely to be injured are industrial workplaces. We believe it’s okay to take risks – like skydiving, or consuming milk past its expiry date if you’re feeling adventurous – but there’s no justification for unnecessary risks in areas where accidents are commonplace and often severe.

That’s the reason we created the Creating a Safe Industrial Workplace video series. Our goal with this engaging and highly instructional course is to assist you in avoiding the most frequently occurring (and most hazardous) accidents in industrial settings. If you have no interest in being electrocuted, fainting from lack of oxygen, or falling off a roof onto sharp metal, then our course is perfect for you.

While safety is a serious topic, it doesn’t mean we can’t have a laugh while discussing it. Safety training can sometimes be as exciting as cleaning your deck, but our videos are packed with enough humor, scenarios, and absurdly amusing actions to keep things entertaining. We don’t want you to suffer any more than you do, and if you were to accidentally succumb to boredom, we wouldn’t be doing our job properly.

So sit back, grab some popcorn, and get ready to dive into our Creating a Safe Industrial Workplace series. Here at The Jeff Havens Company, we provide serious solutions with a humorous twist.

COURSE TOPICS

Upon completion of this course, you will have gained knowledge on:

  • How to avoid injury when lifting and when to request assistance (yes, you will occasionally require it!).
  • How to identify hazards and prevent accidents when working in confined spaces.
  • Appropriate protocols when working at heights, both tethered and untethered.
  • Preventing slips, trips, falls, and eliminating the conditions that typically lead to them.
  • The significance of emergency planning, and how to execute it effectively.
  • Different methods for carrying out efficient emergency and evacuation drills.
  • Actions to take in the event of an industrial fire.
  • How to prevent electrical shock and/or death.

Additional topics covered in this course include:

Proper Lifting Techniques

  • This video will instruct you on how to avoid a potentially life-altering back injury unless you choose to disregard our advice. You’ll understand the importance of proper posture and see several incorrect lifting methods that you may have used yourself.

Working Safely in Confined Spaces

  • Operating in a restricted space poses unique safety challenges. This video will guide you to ensure your experience is safe and uneventful. It also revives an age-old sports rivalry and introduces you to a trending global activity.

Working Safely from Heights

  • As the saying goes, it’s not the fall that kills you, but the abrupt stop. We want to ensure nothing harms you, which is why this video focuses on crucial safety practices when working off the ground. You’ll also witness the repercussions of pushing your employees too hard and there might be some dramatic screaming as well.

Slips, Trips & Falls

  • Aside from vehicular accidents, falls at work are the most common type of workplace injury. This video will help you identify different fall hazards and take simple preventive measures. We’ll also discuss some ineffective methods to prevent slips, trips & falls, and feature a few people navigating stairs with varying degrees of success.

Fire Prevention

  • Fire can be fascinating but it can also destroy things we care about, like buildings or ourselves. This video focuses on ensuring you remain safe when working with fire or near heat sources.

Preventing Electrical Shock

  • Electricity is wondrous, but it’s not pleasant when it courses through you. This video is designed to ensure that you know how to stay safe around electricity. It covers everything from frayed cords to overhead power lines to the risks of using electrical appliances in a bathtub. Unfortunately, we couldn’t include any squirrels in the video.
