The online Alcohol and Drug Awareness course stresses the importance of being "fit-for-work" and outlines the individual's responsibilities in maintaining the safety and health of all employees.
The urgency to prevent individuals under the influence from jeopardizing safety within the workplace is paramount. The recent amendments in the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Legislation, coupled with more knowledgeable employers, has brought about an understanding that significant focus needs to be placed on ensuring that employees reporting to work are "fit-for-work".
No one desires to operate in an environment where their safety is potentially at risk due to a co-worker's substance abuse. Although the onus is primarily on the employer to ensure adherence to the relevant OH&S Legislation, both the employee and the employer are obligated to comply with it.
The Alcohol and Drug Awareness online course underlines the gravity of maintaining a "fit-for-work" status and details the individual's responsibilities towards safeguarding the well-being and safety of all employees.
