This 'Joint Health and Safety Committees and Health and Safety Representatives: Foundations' course provides the essential training that all members of HSC and HSRs must undergo. The course includes: •an overview of the roles of HSCs and HSRs and how to fulfill them; •a review of the responsibilities of all parties on the work site; and •an explanation of worker rights. Moreover, this course highlights the employer’s responsibilities in setting up and supporting the HSC or HSR. With the recent changes in the OH&S Act, Regulations and Code effective December 1, 2021, the course content has been thoroughly updated to reflect these changes and meet the compulsory minimum training requirements. The course duration has been shortened from 6 hours to 2.5 hours.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This 'Joint Health and Safety Committees and Health and Safety Representatives: Foundations' course is designed to satisfy the compulsory training requirements for all HSC members and HSRs. The course also provides an understanding of the employer’s responsibilities in constituting and supporting the HSC or HSR.

Substantial amendments have been made to the laws governing HSCs and HSRs with the introduction of the OH&S Act, Regulations and Code changes on December 1, 2021. This revamped course is fully updated to reflect the new laws and meets the compulsory minimum training requirements. The duration of the course has been reduced from 6 hours to 2.5 hours.


The course is comprised of 3 technical hours.

BCRSP
This course can be eligible for 0.3 CEUs for the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) – Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD Program) for the purpose of maintaining the BCRSP certification. Visit the BCRSP website at www.bcrsp.ca for CPD points criteria.

WWOC
 Program

COURSE TOPICS


Throughout this course, attendees will learn:

Participants will also receive a Participant Guide, including enhanced detail on each of these topics, and templates and examples of Meeting Agendas, Meetings Minutes, and the Terms of Reference document.
Participants will complete a final exam at the end of the course.

ONLINE COURSE DURATION

The course is designed to be completed in approximately 3 hours. The course is self-paced and you can pause and resume as per your convenience.

PASS MARK


The tests included in this online course are intended to  reinforce the learning objectives and fulfill the requirements of the mandatory training for all HSC members and HSRs.  mark of 80% must be achieved to pass the course. Participants will be given three attempts for each question that is part of the final exam. 

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION


For successful completion of the course, participants must achieve an 80% mark on the final exam. Upon successful completion of this online course, an AMHSA Certificate of Completion will be available for download and print. This course is recommended to be retaken every 3 years from the course completion date indicated on the certificate.
