This web-based training explores strategies for safeguarding against electrical dangers and electrocution within construction settings, alongside the obligations of employers in these areas.
Commencing our two-part sequence on electrocution hazards, MARCOM's interactive course titled Electrocution Hazards Part I: Worksite Safety elaborates on the electrical dangers present on a job site, the protective measures set by OSHA, and the steps employees can take to evade accidents and injuries related to electricity. Construction sites often demand a high degree of electrical energy, and it's all too easy to overlook that electricity can inflict severe shocks, burns, or even "electrocution". Each year, it results in hundreds of fatalities and thousands of injuries within the construction sector. However, all these incidents could have been averted. The course encompasses topics like electrical hazards and OSHA standards, high voltage power lines, tool usage, extension cords and receptacles, grounding, continuity and GFCIs, lock-out/tag-out, and more.
Concluding our two-part series on electrocution hazards, MARCOM's interactive course titled Electrocution Hazards Part II: Employer Responsibilities elaborates on the electrical dangers that can be encountered on construction sites, the protective measures set by OSHA, and the role of employers in safeguarding workers from accidents and injuries related to electricity. Despite the usefulness of electrical energy on a job site, it can also pose significant risks. Electricity is responsible for the deaths of over a hundred construction workers annually and injures thousands more. Furthermore, more than half of the job-related electrical injuries are suffered by these workers. But these incidents could have been averted. The course encompasses topics like understanding electricity, OSHA and employee safety, working near power lines, safe practices for using electrical tools and cords, reducing ground fault hazards, energy isolation and equipment guarding, lock-out/tag-out, and more.
