The Ergonomics: Office course, offered online, is structured to empower employees with the knowledge to discern ergonomic hazards in their work environment, thus mitigating the probability of incurring injuries related to ergonomics during their work hours

Upon the completion of this Ergonomics: Office course, participants should be able to:

  • Define ergonomics and its significance
  • Elucidate the types of activities that may result in discomfort or harm
  • Detect early signs and symptoms of MSDs and other injuries related to ergonomics
  • Determine approaches to modify your workspace to avoid injury
  • Showcase methods to maintain your ergonomic health both at work and home

SUJETS DU COURS

The following topics are covered in this Ergonomics: Office course delivered online:

  • Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) – Their definition and development process
  • Types of Injuries – Affecting the eyes, neck, shoulders, elbow, wrist, finger, and back
  • Factors Resulting in Pain or Injury – Excessive force, repetitive motion, awkward postures, static postures, swift movements, compression or contact stress, and vibration
  • Your Equipment – Desk, chair, monitor, keyboard, mouse, laptop, smartphone/tablet, document holder, wrist rest, foot rest, and lights
  • Your Work – The use of any tools or engineering controls provided by your employer, dividing tasks when possible, and introducing variety in tasks to prevent muscle and other soft tissue fatigue; Use of any personal protective gear required for your job; Following correct lifting techniques for anything you need to lift
  • Your Body – Explaining proper posture/neutral position and its importance in performing work tasks
  • Job Safety Analysis – Its definition and your contribution
  • Navigating Through the Work Day – Stretching, taking breaks, and changing positions
  • Healthy Lifestyle – Regular exercise, staying hydrated, healthy eating, stress reduction, and adequate sleep
  • Reporting and Managing Injuries – When and whom to report, and what to do in case of a work-related injury

A score of 80% is required to successfully pass the Ergonomics: Office course. Participants have up to three attempts to reach the passing score.
