Self-Evaluator Online

The Self-Evaluator training course is essential for fulfilling a SECOR with AMTA. This training program will equip you with necessary knowledge and tools to successfully carry out a SECOR self-assessment. The Small Employer Certificate of Recognition, or SECOR, is crucial in assisting employers to establish a safer work environment. The Alberta Motor Transport Association is honoured to collaborate with the Government of Alberta and Partnerships in Injury Reduction to introduce this significant program to Alberta’s commercial transportation sector. It's mandatory to have completed AMTA's Health and Safety System Building (HSSB), before enrolling in this course. If both courses are not completed, your audit will not be approved by AMTA.

APERÇU DU COURS

A SECOR is bestowed upon employers with a workforce of up to 10 members who prove that their health and safety management system aligns with the standards outlined by Alberta Occupational Health and Safety. A firm with SECOR can follow a program to attain COR if they expand to have more than ten employees.

The AMTA mandates employers to have an employee successfully finish the Health and Safety System Building course (or equivalent) and complete the Self-Evaluator Online training as a prerequisite to the SECOR procedure. Employers are then required to establish or update an existing health and safety management system that incorporates the elements included in the HSSB training.

This is a voluntary program. Certain corporations may require bidding contractors to possess a valid SECOR. This is not a compliance program.

A SECOR is granted following a self-audit of the employer’s health and safety management system and a successful review of the audit by the employer’s Certifying Partner.

Certifying Partners are entities that collaborate with the government of Alberta, to offer the SECOR program. Several such organizations operate within the province of Alberta, providing training and audit reviews for the myriad industries they represent. They may provide slightly different SECOR audit tools, but all meet the partnership standards. The AMTA is a Certifying Partner. Once an audit passes the quality assurance review, AMTA will request the certificate from the government to issue and co-sign the SECOR certificate.

Employers invariably benefit from developing an effective health and safety management system. Employers who secure SECOR may also be eligible for discounts on their WCB premiums.
