Upon successful completion of the Laboratory Safety course, participants should gain a comprehensive understanding of:

Identifying hazardous substances in your lab and the importance of minimizing exposure.
The objective of Laboratory and Hazard Communication standards and their main directives.
The obligation of your employer to provide you with relevant information and training when you first start work in a specific area or are exposed to a new situation.
The necessary components of a Chemical Hygiene Plan and your employer’s duty to disclose the plan’s location and accessibility.
The different protections in place for lab personnel, including engineering measures, administrative strategies, work practices, and personal protective equipment.
Understanding your employer’s obligations and your rights concerning exposure monitoring, medical consultations, examinations, and records.

Testing conducted throughout this online Laboratory Safety course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.
