The Work Practices and Engineering Controls course, offered online, is strategically developed to aid facilities in adhering to OSHA’s HAZWOPER regulation (29 CFR 1910.120). These regulations necessitate varying levels of employee training, contingent upon the employee’s direct interaction with hazardous materials. The primary objective of this course is to equip employees with an understanding of the characteristics and behavior of hazardous chemicals, and the means to mitigate or eliminate potential exposure to hazardous materials within their work environments. Hazardous materials and waste are commonplace in numerous work situations and can be encountered on diverse job sites. The essentiality of employees being able to identify these potential hazards, as well as knowing the correct procedures for handling and disposal, is underscored by OSHA’s mandate that anyone working with these substances undergo thorough training in the area of Work Practices and Engineering Controls.

Assessments conducted throughout this online course aim to reinforce the information provided. A score of 80% must be achieved to pass this course. Participants are allowed three attempts to achieve the passing score. A comprehensive student manual is available for printing as a useful resource for future reference and knowledge retention.
