Personal Fall Arrest Systems

The purpose of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge to identify the risks associated with falls from heights of four feet (1.2 m) or more, and understand the practical application of personal fall arrest systems utilized for fall protection. This includes understanding the main elements of these systems, how they work cohesively to prevent falls, and the correct procedure for inspecting, wearing, and connecting the system's attachment to an anchor point.

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course, Personal Fall Arrest Systems, aims to empower learners with the ability to identify the risks associated with falls from heights of four feet (1.2 m) or more. It also focuses on personal fall arrest systems that are employed as fall protection measures. Learners will gain a deep understanding of the main elements of these systems, how they interact to prevent falls, and the correct procedure for inspecting, wearing, and connecting the system’s attachment to an anchor point.

After successfully completing the Personal Fall Arrest Systems course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the risks associated with falls from heights of four feet (1.2 m) or more, both with and without a personal fall arrest system.
  • Comprehend the elements of a personal fall arrest system and how they interact to prevent falls.
  • Understand the process for correctly inspecting and wearing the full-body harness.
  • Recognize key design requirements of a fall arrest system, including the maximum allowed free fall distance, the maximum deceleration distance, and the safety factor required for lanyards and anchor points.
  • Know the criteria for correctly attaching the connecting device to an anchor connector, vertical or horizontal lifeline.
